Thalassery: Government Brennen College, Thalassery, has excelled by securing a place in the 101–150 band of this year’s National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). One of Kerala’s most reputed colleges, Brennen College has achieved this feat while competing with nearly 14,000 colleges across the country.
The institution, with a majority of girl students, has in recent years benefitted from significant government interventions that improved its facilities. Brennen College scored high marks in the multi-level survey conducted as part of the rankings.
Despite the challenges typically faced by rural colleges compared to their urban counterparts, Brennen has shown remarkable progress. Of the 650 students graduating annually, 460 pursue higher education. During the last academic year, the college recorded over 125 campus placements, while faculty members published 71 research papers in 2023–24. The campus also hosts 23 migrant students and has become more than 80% differently-abled-friendly.
