Kozhikode: Another accused in the Vigil missing case, who had been absconding, was arrested from Andhra Pradesh on Saturday, police confirmed. Renjith (39), a native of Kurukkathoor in Peringolam, Kunnamangalam, was taken into custody by the Elathur Police.

Renjith was on the run after the Elathur police registered a case against him for culpable homicide. With his arrest, all three accused in the case are now in custody.

A team comprising officers from the Elathur police and the special squad under Deputy Commissioner of Police Arun K Pavithran travelled to Andhra Pradesh and apprehended the accused.

Vigil, a native of Chungam, West Hill, went missing on March 17, 2019. The Elathur police recently reopened the case and found the involvement of his close friends Nikhil and Deepesh.

The remains will be handed over to the investigation team by the forensic wing at the Kozhikode Medical College by Tuesday. These, along with blood samples from Vigil's family, will be sent to the Kannur Forensic Laboratory for DNA testing.
