Thiruvananthapuram: J Chinchu Rani, Minister for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development in Kerala, has announced that the milk price in Kerala will be increased soon. Addressing the state assembly here on Thursday, the minister confirmed that Milma has already initiated action to increase the price of milk as per the recommendation of a five-member panel. She pointed out that the price will be revised to benefit the dairy farmers.

She was responding to the submission of MLA Thomas K Thomas at the assembly.

Compared to other states in India, Kerala records the highest milk price. Currently, Kerala pays ₹43.17 per litre. Kerala High Court empowered Milma to decide on the milk price. It has already initiated action to revise the price,” she said.

As per reports, Milma is planning to hike the price by January in view of the lower GST on dairy products. It is learnt that the milk price will be hiked by ₹3 to ₹4 per litre.
