Malappuram: CPM local committee member A P Mujeeb on Friday filed a complaint against Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) leader P K Firos, alleging financial irregularities, similar to those raised by MLA K T Jaleel.
At a recent press conference, Jaleel had alleged that Firos, who he claimed had no steady employment or inherited property, had amassed wealth through the misuse of public funds and contributions collected in the name of social causes.
According to Jaleel, Firos is employed as a part-time sales manager at Fortune House General Trading LLC in Dubai with a reported salary of about ₹5.25 lakh per month. He questioned the nature of the company and whether the income was linked to suspicious financial dealings.
Jaleel further claimed that Firos had failed to account for over ₹8.16 crore of the ₹16.32 crore raised through campaigns such as the “Dhoti Challenge” and other charitable drives, including funds collected for the Kathua and Unnao case victims. He also alleged that Firos had acquired assets over the past two decades, including a 15-cent plot in Kunnamangalam in 2011, despite declaring liabilities of nearly ₹25 lakh in his 2021 election affidavit.
The MLA also criticised the “BlueFin villa” project in Kozhikode, suggesting it may have been financed through diverted funds.
The ED is expected to examine the complaint. Firos has not issued a detailed response to the latest developments, but has previously denied wrongdoing and accused Jaleel of running a politically motivated campaign.
