Malappuram: Police, in collaboration with the District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force (DANSAF), arrested two men on charges of selling narcotic drugs among youths in the district.

The apprehended are Meledath Basim (36) and Kannanparambil Noufal (32), both residents of Mankada Kadannamanna. They were nabbed during a raid in the Mukkil Cheriyam area.

The operation, led by Perinthalmanna DYSP A Premjith, Mankada Inspector Ashwith S Kanmayil, DANSAF SI Shijo C Thankachan and the DANSAF squad, resulted in the seizure of 5.30 grams of MDMA and a car used by the duo. Police said the accused had been supplying drugs in Mankada town and nearby areas, mainly targeting young people.

Inspector Ashwith S Kanmayil said further inspections would continue to check drug trafficking in the region. Both accused have previous assault cases against them, while Basim is also linked to NDPS cases registered at Tirurangadi and Mankada police stations.
