Muvattupuzha: Volunteers from Daya, an animal protection organisation, successfully rescued a monitor lizard that was struggling for its life after being attacked by a pack of dogs.

The lizard, which had ventured onto land from a nearby river, was immediately set upon by the dogs. Hearing the commotion, Ambily Purackal, coordinator of Daya, was the first to arrive at the scene. With the help of other volunteers, she managed to rescue the injured reptile. The lizard had sustained multiple wounds across its body.

After the rescue, the animal received primary treatment and was moved to a safe location. The Forest Department was informed, and a Forest Rapid Response Team, led by Xavy Poovan, later arrived to take the lizard into their care for further treatment.
