Finally, sub-RTO office in Malappuram gets its own vehicle after months' wait

Tirurangadi: When the official vehicle of the sub-RTO office in Malappuram completed its 15-year term, the need for a new one emerged. The vehicle was taken out of service in March 2025. However, as no replacement vehicle was provided, the office's operations were disrupted. Without its own vehicle, officials found it difficult to reach driving test locations and grounds for vehicle fitness inspections.

Driving tests are conducted in the interior region of Thennala Karuthal. Furthermore, the police personnel were unable to reach accident sites or complaint locations, on a timely manner when incidents occurred. They also faced difficulties reaching police stations to inspect vehicles involved in accidents.

Finally, after months, the sub-RTO office has received its own vehicle, ending months' wait. The vehicle was brought to the office from Thiruvananthapuram last night.

The police stations of Thenhippalam, Parappanangadi, Tirurangadi, Kottakkal, and Vengara fall under the jurisdiction of this sub-RTO office. Officials were obliged to travel to all these locations for various purposes. Additionally, the Joint RTO needed to conduct inspections at driving schools. Manorama had earlier reported this issue, following which the Constituency Youth League Committee had filed a complaint.

Although the complainants were informed then that a vehicle was being sanctioned, it still hadn't arrived even after months. The process was expedited only after one more complaint was filed, and a request was placed under the RTI Act seeking to know the action taken on the matter.
