Kozhikode: A swift act by a traffic police officer saved an elderly man from being hit by a speeding bus at Eranhipalam Junction in Kozhikode.
K P Binil Raj, a Civil Police Officer with the Traffic Road Safety Enforcement Wing, pulled the man to safety just seconds before the bus could strike him. Binil Raj was managing traffic at the junction when the incident occurred on Tuesday.
The KSRTC bus, which had arrived from Wayanad and was turning from Eranhipalam Junction toward the Sarovaram Bypass en route to the bus stand, nearly hit the man as he suddenly began crossing the road. Sensing the imminent danger, Binil Raj rushed forward and pulled the man away from the path of the oncoming bus, narrowly preventing a serious accident.
Since Monday, a free-left system has been made mandatory at the Eranhipalam Junction for vehicles coming from Wayanad Road towards Sarovaram Road.
