Tragedy averted narrowly as LPG regulator explodes in Kannur's Peralam

Karivelloor: A major tragedy was narrowly avoided when the regulator of an LPG cylinder exploded at the residence of KV Anil Kumar in Peralam near Karivelloor.

The incident occurred around 10. 30 AM. Earlier in the morning, the gas cylinder had been used for cooking. Anil rushed to the kitchen on hearing a loud explosion. By then, gas from the cylinder had already spread throughout the kitchen.

Fortunately, Anil was able to turn off the cylinder immediately, and since the stove was off at the time of the explosion, a major accident was averted. Anil lives in the house with his wife and daughter.

The cylinder and regulator were replaced only three days ago, after the old regulator became damaged. Anil, who had attended a safety class conducted by the Fire and Rescue Department on operating cooking gas cylinders, acted quickly and prevented a potentially serious disaster.
