Thrissur: A group of unidentified men attacked AK Faisal, owner of Ragam Theatre, on Thursday night in front of his house at Vellappaya here. Faisal sustained injuries on his leg, while his driver, Ajeesh, suffered injuries on his hand.
According to the police, the attack took place around 10 pm on Thursday. The assailants reportedly attacked the duo when Faisal stepped out of his car to open the gate. A three-member gang, hiding in the dark, suddenly emerged and assaulted them with a machete. After the attack, the assailants fled the scene.
Both men were first rushed to the Government Medical College Hospital and later shifted to Daya Hospital. Hospital sources confirmed that both are out of danger.
Faisal, who is also a film producer, has been running Ragam Theatre on lease for nearly ten years. The Medical College Police have intensified the investigation into the incident. CCTV footage collected from Faisal’s house and nearby areas is being examined to identify the culprits. Police suspect that a financial dispute may have led to the attack.
