Actor Mohanlal will be the chief guest at the valedictory ceremony of the 64th Kerala State School Arts Festival (Kalolsavam), Asia’s largest youth cultural festival, Minister for General Education V Sivankutty announced on Friday.

The festival is scheduled to be held from January 14 to 18, 2026, across multiple venues in Thrissur, Kerala’s cultural capital.

As part of the preparatory process, a series of official programmes will be organised in Thrissur on Saturday under the chairmanship of the General Education Minister. Revenue Minister K Rajan and Higher Education Minister Dr R Bindu are also expected to attend.

The foundation stone for the festival pandal (venue) will be laid at Thekkinkadu Maidan at 11 am. At noon, the festival’s official logo, media awards and programme schedule will be unveiled at the reception committee office at the Government Model Girls Higher Secondary School, Thrissur. This will be followed by a review meeting of committee chairpersons and conveners.

The five-day festival will feature competitions in 239 items—96 in the high school category, 105 in the higher secondary category, and 19 items each in the Sanskrit and Arabic festivals. The schedule has been designed to ensure convenience for participants and an engaging experience for audiences.

The meeting will also review the progress of arrangements related to venues, food courts, accommodation, security and transportation, coordinated by various sub-committees of the reception committee.
