Wayanad: The rehabilitation efforts for those affected by the Mundakkai-Chooralmala landslides are progressing, with the roof concreting work completed at 237 houses in the Elston Estate project.
The construction activities are progressing across five zones. The contractors have already completed foundation preparation for 332 houses, earthwork for 331 houses, and plain cement concrete (PCC) for 310 houses. Additionally, the foundation construction for 306 houses, stumps for 306 houses, plinths for 297 houses, and shear wall works in 295 houses have also been completed.
The township project, which employs 1500 workers round the clock, has also relocated the KSEB distribution line passing through the township, and four major towers for the 110 kV line have been installed.
The roads leading up to the township are under construction and progressing rapidly. The work, carried out in three phases, consists of a main road 12.6 metres wide and 1,100 metres long, with a road 9.5 metres wide extending for 2.7km. These would serve as the main roads connecting the various zones of the township with internal roads of 5.8 metres over 7.5 kilometres acting as access roads to the various residential areas. So far, 490 metres of the main road and 906 metres of the secondary road have been constructed out of the total length of 11.4km.
