KSRTC bus services from Piravom are all set for a major expansion, offering commuters better connectivity across the state and a special festive service to Bengaluru. Minister Anoop Jacob announced that the new routes, including the Piravom-Anaikatti and Koothattukulam-Alappuzha services, will commence next week.
The introduction of these long-distance routes is expected to benefit daily commuters, students, and professionals travelling to key hubs across Kerala and neighbouring states.
Convenient regional routes
The Piravom-Anaikatti Fast Passenger service will depart from Piravom daily at 05:50 and is scheduled to reach Anaikatti by 12:00. On its return journey, the bus will leave Anaikatti at 16:00 and arrive back in Piravom at 22:30. The service will run via Anchelpetty, Pampakuda, Muvattupuzha, Perumbavoor, Angamaly, Chalakudy, Mannuthy Bypass, Palakkad, and Mannarkkad.
Meanwhile, the Koothattukulam-Kayamkulam Fast Passenger will offer another vital connection. Departing from Koothattukulam at 05:35, the bus will travel via Piravom, Peruva, Cherthala, Kripasanam, and Alappuzha to reach Kayamkulam by 10:00. The return service will leave Alappuzha at 16:00, passing through Kripasanam at 16:30, and reach the Piravom-Koothattukulam area by 19:30.
Onam special service to Bengaluru
In a bid to ease the festive rush during Onam, KSRTC will run a special service to Bengaluru. The Bengaluru-bound bus is scheduled to depart from Piravom on the evening of 24 August, reaching its destination on the morning of 25 August. The return service will depart from Bengaluru on the evening of 25 August, arriving back in Piravom on the morning of 26 August.
Official inauguration details
Minister Anoop Jacob will officially inaugurate the new services on 24 August. The first ceremony is scheduled for 08:00 at Koothattukulam, followed by a second launch event at Piravom at 09:30. Local residents and transport groups have welcomed the new routes, which promise to significantly cut travel times and improve safety for long-distance passengers.
