Thiruvananthapuram: Cyberdome, a Kerala Police initiative to increase online intelligence and cyber security, is to be inaugurated by Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala on February 17.

This is perhaps the first time in India that such a system, a public-private initiative, is being launched to check cyber crimes. With the dedicated 2500 sq ft capacity at Technology Part at the capital becoming operational, the strengths of the police in controlling cyber crime would increase manifold, said T.P. Senkumar, the state's police chief.

The Cyberdome would carry out activities such as Cyber forensics, cyber intelligence, Cyber security and so on. There would also be a social media lab. The facility would work involving about 500 professionals from across the globe who would volunteer to offer their services. The team would be led by a DySP with about 11 officers under him/her.

Thiruvananthapuram Range IG, Manoj Abraham would be the nodal officer for the venture.
