New Delhi: A 13-year-old Afghan boy flew from Kabul to Delhi hidden inside the landing gear compartment of a KAM Airlines aircraft, before being sent back the same day, official sources said on Monday.
The incident came to light around 11 am on Sunday when flight RQ-4401 arrived at Indira Gandhi International Airport after a two-hour journey from Kabul. Airline staff spotted the boy wandering near the plane after landing and alerted security.
The teenager, a native of Kunduz city, told officials he sneaked into Kabul airport and hid inside the rear central landing gear “out of curiosity.” He was handed over to CISF personnel for questioning and later repatriated to Afghanistan on the return flight that departed at 12.30 pm.
A security sweep of the aircraft revealed a small red speaker, believed to have been carried by the boy. The landing gear compartment was declared safe after thorough anti-sabotage checks, sources said.
