Dubai: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Thursday introduced changes to its Code of Conduct for players, player support personnel, and the Decision Review System (DRS) umpires call interpretation.
There has been no change to the list of offenses in the Code of Conduct, or the current penalty regime of warnings/fines/suspensions applicable to each offense, but players who have breached the code will now also accumulate Demerit Points, which can see repeat offenders suspended, an ICC statement said.

Demerit Points will remain with a player for two years, and all players started with a zero balance from Thursday to coincide with the introduction of these changes.
The new DRS playing conditions relating to the Leg Before Wicket "umpire's call" also come into effect on Thursday. The first match to be played under these regulations will be the One-Day International between hosts South Africa and Ireland in Benoni on Sunday.
