Kerala Blasters sign India's FIFA U-17 hero Jeakson Singh

Jeakson Singh Thounaojam represented India at the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup and scored country's lone goal in the tournament.

Kochi: The Kerala Blasters on Wednesday announced signing of teen midfielder Jeakson Singh Thounaojam.

Jeakson represented India at the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup and scored country's lone goal in the tournament in game against Columbia.

Hailing from Haokha Mamang village in Manipur's Thoubal district, Jeakson was part of the Minerva Punjab youth team.

After the FIFA U-17 World Cup, he was selected to play for I-League team Indian Arrows.

His world cup teammate, Dheeraj Singh made his debut in ISL for Blasters in the inaugural match of Indian Super League season 5 against ATK, which the Kerala team won by 2-0.

Kerala Blasters head coach David James had earlier made it clear that his aim is to build a core of young home-grown players.
