F1 legend Schumacher not bedridden anymore: reports

Formula One legend and former Ferrari driver Michael Schumacher.

Formula One (F1) legend Michael Schumacher is 'not bedridden or surviving on tubes to stay alive' any longer, following a skiing accident five years ago that saw him suffer a traumatic brain injury, according to reports.

The former Ferrari driver is said to be moved to a clinic in Dallas, Texas, that specialises in treating brain injuries. He will turn 50 on January 3, 2019.

Schumacher, who is one of motorsport’s greatest living drivers, has received constant nursing care and supervision – with the costs of care and physiotherapy touching a reported Rs 44.79 lakh per week.

His family and friends have closely guarded his condition ever since the accident, honouring his life as he would've lived otherwise.

The German star was known to keep professional and private lives separate even during his championship winning days, which is why the family has chosen to speak very less about his condition post the accident.

Furthermore, German archbishop Georg Ganswein who is close to the Schumacher family was quoted saying he "senses that loving people are around him". Ganswein had paid a visit to see Schumacher in 2016. He further said although Schumacher's face has 'become a little fuller' the record-breaking driver still looks the same as he did when last seen by his millions of fans.
