German GM Frederik Svane stunned Gukesh, 1.5-0.5, after securing the decisive victory with black pieces in the second game of their mini match-up. The first game of Friday had ended in a draw.
Gukesh blundered in the endgame by moving his King away from an undefended pawn.
Meanwhile, R Praggnanandhaa and Arjun Erigaisi advanced to Round 4 with victories (1.5-0.5) over Robert Hovhannisyan and Shamsiddin Vokhidov, respectively. Erigaisi got a draw with black pieces on the back of his win with white the previous day.
Praggnanandhaa had to dig deep after draw in the first game.
