The Indian women's team could not replicate the success of the men's side in the qualifiers of the FIBA 3X3 Asia Cup in Singapore, falling short of the main draw.

India crushed Turkmenistan, 21-4, but lost 13-16 to Malaysia in the decider. India finished second in the qualifying group D, with Malaysia advancing to the main draw, where they will face Mongolia and New Zealand in Pool B.

Sreekala Rani, the only Malayali in the Indian side, scored six points, the joint-most with Pushpa Senthil Kumar, in the win over Turkmenistan. Pushpa continued her decent scoring record with six points against Malaysia. A two-pointer from Sreekala gave India a 6-4 lead but Malaysia bounced back and maintained their upper hand throughout.

The Indian men’s team, comprising Kerala’s Pranav Prince, produced a perfect 3-0 record in the qualifiers to book their berth in the main draw on April 1. The Indian men’s side will play New Zealand and Qatar in Pool D in the main draw on Friday.
