Thrissur Pooram began with flag-hoisting ceremonies at participating temples, marking the start of the 230th festival. It will culminate with fireworks on April 27th.

The flag hoisting ceremonies marking the commencement of this year's Thrissur Pooram were held on Monday at the participating temples, Thiruvambady and Paramekkavu, as well as at eight constituent temples. The ceremonies were conducted at different times, from morning onwards, across the Kanimangalam Sasta Temple, Chembukkavu Karthyayani Temple, Panamukkumpilly Sasta Temple, Pookkattikkara Karamukku Bhagavathy Temple, Choorakottukavu Bhagavathy Temple, Laloor Karthyayani Temple, Ayyanthole Karthyayani Temple, and Kuttoor Neythalakkavu Bhagavathy Temple. This is the 230th Thrissur Pooram and the festival's major programmes and timings are as below.

April 24 - Poorachamayam exhibition
April 24, 7 pm: Sample fireworks by Paramekkavu
April 25, between 11.30 am and 12 noon: Pooravilambaram
April 26: Thrissur Pooram
April 27, 3 am: Fireworks
April 27: Pakalpooram and upacharam cholli piriyal rituals

The Thrissur KSRTC bus stand is just about 1.6 km away from the Pooram venue, the Vadakkumnathan Temple. The railway station is also just around 1.9 km away.
