The Matheran heritage toy train service, suspended from June to October due to the monsoons, will resume on November 6. The narrow-gauge service between Neral town in Raigad and Matheran hill station will have four services daily, two from each station, said the Central Railway. At 8.50 am, the first train of the resumed service will depart from Neral to Matheran. The second train will be at 10.25 am. The first train will reach Matheran at 11.30 am and the second at 1.05 pm. On the return journey, the trains will depart at 2.45 pm and 4 pm, reaching Neral at 5.30 pm and 6.40 pm, respectively.

Coaches and services
From Monday to Friday, there will be six shuttle services between Matheran and Aman Lodge. On Sundays and Saturdays, there will be two more, the railway release said. The first services will run with a Vistadome coach, and the second with a first-class coach, from either side. They will be run with a total of six coaches—three second-class and two second-class cum luggage vans.

Why suspended
Every year, the toy train service is suspended in the monsoon season as the area expeiences landslides and heavy rainfall, often resulting in track damage and embankment washouts. The 21 km stretch is a popular tourist attraction and is aorund 118 years old. When the toy train service is not operational, passengers and tourists depend on the Aman Lodge-Matheran shuttle.
