What's so interesting about a yacht that has been permanently docked for almost 29 years, one might wonder. However, the Royal Yacht Britannia (Her Majesty's Yacht (HMY) Britannia), a luxury yacht for the English royals that was decommissioned in 1997, is still rated the world's top attraction. The list, released by TripAdvisor's 'Traveller's Choice Awards - Best of the Best Things to Do,' is awarded to spots that receive 'a high volume of above-and-beyond reviews' from tourists over a 12-month period.

The yacht was launched in 1953, the same year as Queen Elizabeth II's coronation, and soon, it became a symbol of their prestige as well. It could also be converted into a hospital, and today it is one of the most visited spots in Scotland, where it is docked in Edinburgh.

Only two additions from Asia
The third on the 24-spot-long list is Singapore's Gardens by the Bay, which is famed for its 'fantasy world look'. It's the supertrees, or vertical gardens, that are almost 50 metres tall, covered with numerous plants and orchids, and lit up at night. Many travellers also consider it a futuristic art installation. Cambodia's Angkor Wat temple, considered the largest religious monument in the world, also ranks 21st.
