5 tips to travel stress-free during the rainy season

The hot sultry summer is history. And since you are here, we take it that you love traveling in the rains. Here are five simple tips that will make your trip stress free.

Always safety first

From slippery roads to leeches and mosquitoes - the rain brings a plethora of problems. You have to be aware of the issues that you may face at the destination you are bound to. If you are heading to the hills, drive safely. Keep an eye out for reports and warnings regarding possible landslides in the area. You may be banned from entering the water at some beaches or waterfalls, make sure you stick to these instructions.

Pack smart

The key is in packing light. Go for synthetic materials. Ensure that you keep your electronic gadgets dry. Carry umbrellas and raincoats. Keep your leather shoes and bags at home and use materials that will not be destroyed in the rain. It is essential that you carry insect repellents and invest in good quality shoes that prevent leech bites if you are planning to go for a hike. Carry a couple of books and games so that you won't be bored even if you have to stay inside the room due to heavy rains.

Be ready for delays

Rains also spell delays due to poor visibility, especially if you are flying. Give yourself plenty of time between connection flights. Roads may get flooded and traffic snarls are common too.

Cut back on adventure

Avoid the roads less traveled. It is easier to get assistance if you are on the main roads.  Stick to the rules and do not try to push your luck while traversing forests or waterfalls.

Check the weather conditions

It is good to know the weather conditions at your destination. Ask the locals if you are in doubt.

And wish you a safe and happy trip.
