Here's all you need to know about the 4-day Malabar River Festival

It's that time of the year when expert kayakers from across the world will gather at the three rivers in Kozhikode for the fifth edition of the  International White Water Kayaking championship. 

Organized as part of the "Malabar River Festival - 2017" by the Kerala Tourism department and Kozhikode District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) with technical assistance from Kerala Kayaking Academy and Madras Fun Tools, an official said today.

Around 150 participants, including kayakers from abroad, will take part in the four-day fifth edition of International White Water Kayaking championship to be held at different places in the district from tomorrow.

The competitions will be held in Chalippuzha, Iruvazhinji and Kuttiyadi rivers in the district which will have participants from various states.

The festival will formally commence tomorrow in Kuttiyadi river in Chakkittapara panchayat although the official inauguration will be on the next day at Pulikkayam, the DTPC official said.

Eleven international kayakers from countries including, New Zealand, Germany, Nepal, Italy, USA and Denmark have already arrived in the city.
