Go boating on Akkulam Lake this Onam

Here is something new you can try out this Onam break. After a five year hiatus, the boating facility at Akkulam Tourist Village will start functioning again.

The first of the boats will start cruising through the beautiful lake on Friday. The boat service which began in 1989 was shut down in 2002 for various reasons. The project will be operated by the District Tourism Promotion Council.  These boats will be helmed by women and three women employees have already been appointed for this.

The visitors can enjoy the boat ride from Akkulam to Veli Tourist Village. A thrilling ride in the speedboat is one of the main attractions of the project. Four persons can take a ride at a time and would cost Rs 600 rupees for a 10-minute ride. A total of seven people can take a half an hour ride on the lake for Rs 900.
