Saudi Arabia opens airspace to Qatar airways

The Qatar Airways to Saudi Arabia will resume their services after three years from January 11th. Ticket booking has already begun. Qatar’s national carrier had rerouted a few of its flights to pass through Saudi Arabia’s airspace from Thursday.

The Salva checkpoint that borders the two countries will soon reopen. In fact, they have already removed the cement barricades. Now the customs, immigration and health departments need to get activated.

The first flight to pass through the Saudi airspace was a Doha- Johannesburg trip on Thursday night.

Over terrorism apprehensions, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Egypt had severed relations with the Qatar in June 2017. It is after the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council members signed the AlUla declaration at the Gulf summit that the diplomatic ties with Qatar was restored. UAE will also open the land and sea borders between the Saudi and Qatar.
