Take a water taxi to explore mesmerizing Vembanad

The State Water Transport Department has introduced water taxi services from Muhamma boat jetty in Alappuzha district of Kerala which offers tourists stunning views of the Vembanad lake.

Timings, fares

The boat, with a maximum speed of over 30 kmph, can carry up to 10 passengers. There would be two crew members. Services are conducted from 9 am to 5 pm and fare is Rs 1,500 for a trip. Even if there is only one passenger on a trip, the rate would be the same. However, if there are 10 travellers at a time and they are not part of the same group, each person needs to pay only Rs 150.

How to board

At present, tourists have to reach Muhamma boat jetty to board the water taxi. Tourists arriving at the renowned travel destination of Kumarakom near in Kottayam district can reach Muhamma boat jetty from Kumarakom on regular passenger boats of the Water Transport Department. The ticket fare of this trip is Rs 16.

Meanwhile, officials said that water taxi services would soon be launched from Kumarakom also.
