Nedumbassery: The Cochin International Airport (CIAL) has introduced a self–baggage drop facility at the terminals to enhance the passenger experience. This lets the passengers drop their baggage on the conveyor without assistance from airport staff. Airline companies like IndiGo, Air Asia and Air India are currently using this facility. The passengers can take printed boarding passes and baggage tags from the 10 common-use self-service kiosks that are installed near the terminal gates. After pasting the baggage tag sticker on their baggage, they could drop these on the conveyor themselves.
CIAL 4 Self Bag Drop facility is available at the check-in counters from 27 – 30. This is linked to CIAL’s baggage handling unit. Machines that are imported from Canada have been used at the counters for self-baggage drop. Similar machines are used at the Seoul airport in South Korea too. CIAL MD S Suhas said that the latest facility has been introduced to provide a world-class travelling experience for the passengers as well as to improve the efficiency of the airport.
