Kochi: Two Kozhikode-based companies’ ambitious project to develop facilities to improve the country's travel experience has received an impressive ₹25 crore in funding. Travlounge, jointly introduced by Azcco Global and Beacon Group, aims to develop a roadside facility to assist travellers. The facility includes international-standard lounges for relaxation, modern hygienic toilets, sleeping pods for short rest periods, and coffee and tea shops. The project has received ₹25 crore from Gokulam Group in a second round of funding.
Travlounge aims to provide a comprehensive travel experience nationwide for long-distance and short-distance travellers. Two years after it was introduced in Walayar by Azcco Global MD Aziz Chovvanchery and Beacon Group Director P T Safeer, the project attracted funding from Gokulam. The founders said over 1.5 lakh people have used the facility in two years.
Along with the physical facilities, the venture has launched a Travlounge travel app aimed to assist travellers in planning and managing their journeys more efficiently. The app was unveiled recently by Kerala Public Works and Tourism Minister P A Mohammed Riyas at a ceremony attended by Gokulam Group chairman Gokulam Gopalan, actor and brand ambassador Mamta Mohandas. Minister Riyas hailed the initiative saying the app would address common travel challenges faced by passengers across India.
Second unit at Adimali
The second Travlounge unit has already started operating at Adimali. It comprises toilets, a coffee shop, a travel mart, an EV charging point, and sleeping pods. The sleeping pods can be used for Rs 300 for three hours. The venture plans to start similar units in Kuttippuram and Gundlupet next year.
