Kochi KSRTC double-decker bus ride starts: How to book the trip, what if it rains? Details

The KSRTC has launched the Kochi double-decker city ride bus service. The 29 km trip, which starts at 5 pm from the Ernakulam KSRTC Bus Stand, lasts approximately three hours. The bus has 63 seats, comprising 39 on the upper deck and 24 on the lower deck. The seats cost ₹300 per person on the open-top upper deck and ₹150 for the lower deck. The KSRTC also has plans to rent the bus out to groups for small functions for ₹15,300.

According to KSRTC, the trips won't be cancelled even if it rains. Passengers have the option to wear raincoats and use umbrellas, as they enjoy the rain-drenched view of Kochi. However, they will not be permitted to stand on the upper deck while the bus is in motion. The passengers can get up from their seats and enjoy the top-deck views during the few halts at Thoppumpady, Marine Drive, Goshri Bridge and Kalamukku. 

How to book tickets
1) Log in to KSRTC's onlineksrtcswift.com website to book the tickets. You can also book via KSRTC's app.  
2) In the 'Travelling From' box, select the 'Kochi City Ride' option. The 'Kochi' option will then get automatically selected in the 'Going To' box.
3) Enter your chosen date of travel
4) Select your preferred seat
5) The pick-up and drop-off points will only be the KSRTC bus stand. 
6) Click in to provide passenger details and make the payment to book your seat.

Note: Once booked, tickets are non-refundable. However, a trip will be undertaken only if there are at least 25 passengers. If the trip gets cancelled by the KSRTC, the ticket fare will be automatically refunded to your account.
