Kochi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off four Vande Bharat Express trains from the Banaras railway station on Saturday morning. These new semi-high-speed trains will operate on the Banaras-Khajuraho, Lucknow-Saharanpur, Firozpur-Delhi, and Ernakulam-Bengaluru routes.
In Kerala, a ceremony was conducted on platform one at the Ernakulam South Railway Station. Governor Rajendra Arlekar, Union Minister Suresh Gopi, state ministers, MPs and MLAs attended the function. The train would be given a grand reception at Thrissur and Palakkad stations.
The inaugural service is only till Bengaluru, and the regular service is expected to begin within a few days. The Ernakulam-Bengaluru Vande Bharat train will have eight coaches. The usual service will depart from Bengaluru KSR station at 5.10 am and reach Ernakulam by 1.50 pm. The return service departs at 2.20 pm and arrives in Bengaluru at 11 pm. The Bengaluru-Ernakulam Vande Bharat trains (26651 and 26652) have six stops between their destinations.
The eight-coach train will be the third Vande Bharat service for Kerala and the 12th pair operating within the Southern Railway network.
Ticket fares from Ernakulam to Bengaluru and vice-versa:

- Executive chair car (EC): ₹2,289
