Naval exercise at Thiruvananthapuram's Shangumukham today: Traffic diversions

The police have issued a traffic advisory detailing the restrictions and diversions in place in Thiruvananthapuram city today from 12.30 pm onwards, ahead of the Navy Day operational demo, scheduled for 4.30 pm at Shangumukham. The public who wishes to watch the naval exercise should park their private vehicles at the allotted parking spots in the city and then take the special KSRTC services to Vettucaud. After the demo, they could take the bus back to the town from Vettucaud. KSRTC will run ticketed special services from the parking grounds from 1 pm onwards. Meanwhile, people should reach the parking grounds before 4 pm to catch these special buses. 

Routes for airport, train passengers
Those who arrive at the railway station or the airport should plan their journey with the traffic advisory in mind. Vehicles to the domestic terminal should take Venpalavattam, Chakka flyover, Enchakkal – Kallumoodu, Ponnarapalam, Valiathura route and return via Sulaiman Theruvu, Vallakadavu and Enchakkal. Meanwhile, the vehicles to the international terminal will be diverted via Chakka – Ananthapuri Hospital – Service Road. 

New rules
Passengers should present their air tickets at these traffic points. Vehicles from Kazhakoottam to Thiruvananthapuram should avoid the bypass and take the Kariavattam–Sreekaryam route instead.  Parking wouldn’t be allowed on both sides of Shangumukham – Domestic Airport Road, Airport Arattu Gate – Vallakadavu – Enchakkal – Mitranandapuram – SP Fort – Sreekandeshwaram Park – Thakaraparambu flyover – Choorakattupalayam – Thampanoor flyover – Thycaud – Vazhuthacaud – Vellayambalam – Kowdiar roads on December 3 and 4.  For details, contact: 94979 30055, 0471 2558731
