The IMD has issued an orange alert for Delhi today, and dense fog has blanketed the city, which the weather department said is likely to persist for a few days. The cold, foggy conditions have also affected numerous flight schedules today. According to the latest updates, around 130 flights at Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport have been cancelled, and over 200 are delayed. Eight flights were also diverted due to adverse weather conditions. Flightradar24, the website that tracks flight arrivals and delays, says 178 departures and 69 arrivals at Delhi are delayed. 

This morning, Delhi airport said on X, "Flight operations are currently being conducted under CAT III conditions due to dense fog, which may result in delays or cancellations. Our ground teams are on-site and actively assisting passengers to ensure a smooth travel experience. For the latest flight updates, please contact your respective airlines." Air India, Indigo and Spice Jet have also issued travel advisories to alert passengers saying they should check flight status before leaving for the airport.

Today, Delhi's Air Quality Index is at 402, which comes under the 'Severe' category. It was marked thus in 22 stations, and 14 indicated 'very poor.' The highest was in Vivek Vihar, East Delhi, at 456. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), an AQI between 0 and 50 is 'Good,' 51 to 100 is 'satisfactory,' 101 to 200 is 'moderate,' 201 to 300 is 'poor' and 301 to 400 is 'very poor and 401 to 500 is 'severe.'
