PM Modi's Kochi visit on March 11: Traffic restrictions, bus diversions, parking facilities

Strict traffic restrictions will be in place in Kochi on March 11, Wednesday, in connection with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit and road show. Vehicles wouldn’t be allowed between the Naval Base and Marine Drive from noon to 12.30 pm, between Marine Drive and Jawaharlal International Stadium in Kaloor from 12.50 pm to 1.20 pm and between the stadium and Naval Base via MG Road from 3.05 pm to 3.30 pm. 

Diversions and restrictions
Heavy vehicles are barred from entering the city limits from 10 pm on Tuesday until the VIP visit ends. The PM takes the Naval Base, Pallimukku, Jose Junction, BTH Road, Park Avenue Road and Shanmugham Road route to Marine Drive. Vehicles would be diverted from 11 am onwards for this. Buses from Fort Kochi and Mattancherry to Ernakulam, Kakkanad, and Aluva should turn at the BOT East Junction and take the Kundannoor, NH 66, Vytila, and Edappally route. Meanwhile, the buses from Aluva and Kakkanad to Fort Kochi should take the Kundannoor, BOT East and Thoppumpady route. 

Smaller vehicles will be diverted from Fort Kochi to BOT East, Thevara Ferry, Mattammel, Panampilly Nagar South, Manorama, Kadavantra, and Vytila, while vehicles from the Bolgatty side will be diverted towards Chathyath junction, Pachalam, Pachalam Overbridge, Pottakuzhi, Mamangalam, and Edappally. Vehicles from the High Court to Fort Kochi should take the High Court Junction, Madhava Pharmacy, DCC Junction, Iyyattil Junction, Chittoor Road, Valanjambalam, Manorama and Panampilly Nagar route. 

Traffic would be diverted between Aluva and High Court, from 12.50 pm to 1.30 pm. These vehicles should instead take the Edappally, Mamangalam, Pottakuzhi, Pachalam Overbridge, and Chathyath route, or the Edappally, Vytila, Kadavantra, Panampilly Nagar, Thevara Ferry, and BOT route towards Fort Kochi. 

Parking facilities
Parking for vehicles arriving for the PM’s programs will be arranged at various locations. For the vehicles coming from Thrissur, Vypin, and Paravoor: Bolgatty water metro jetty premises, area opposite Grand Hyatt, Shanmugham Road, Silicone parking, Vallarpadam Basilica ground, LNG Terminal. For the vehicles coming from Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, Muvattupuzha, and Fort Kochi sides: DH Ground, Maharajas’ College ground, Ernakulathappan Ground, Ayyappankavu temple premises.
