Traffic will be restricted near Kerala counting stations on May 4th to ensure smooth voting, with specific diversions in Kottayam and Kochi.

Owing to the vote counting of the Kerala Assembly Elections 2026, special traffic arrangements will be in place across the state on May 4. These measures are aimed at ensuring that the counting process is conducted safely and smoothly and at managing traffic congestion. The restrictions will be imposed mainly in areas near the counting stations. In Kochi, regulations are mainly enforced in the CUSAT area from 5 am till the counting is over. In Thiruvananthapuram, restrictions are in place in the Kesavadasapuram-Mannanthala Road from 6 am onwards.  

Diversions and restrictions in Thiruvananthapuram
1) Vehicles will not be allowed to park on either side of the road, from Paruthippara to Steps Junction on the Kesavadasapuram-Mannanthala Road.
2) Only the vehicles of election officials and those with special permission will be allowed to enter the Mar Ivanios College campus, where the counting is held.
3) From the Steps Junction to Mannanthala and Paruthippara to the MG College main gate, vehicles should be parked on the roadsides without causing traffic issues.

4) If traffic increases on the Kesavadasapuram-Mannanthala Road, vehicles will be diverted eventually. Vehicles that need to go from Mannanthala to Kesavadasapuram should take the Mannanthala-Kudappanakkunnu-Peroorkkada-Ambalakukku-Kowdiar route.
5) Vehicles wanting to head from Kesavadasapuram to Mannanthala should take the Paruthippara-Muttada-Ambalamukku-Peroorkada-Kudappanakunnu-Mannanthala route. 

Traffic diversions in Kochi
1) Those coming from NH 544 to the CUSAT area should take a right from Vidya Nagar junction to reach Kesari junction to go to their destinations.
2) There will be no entry to CUSAT from Hidayat Junction.
3) Those who want to go from Hidayat Junction to NH 44 via the CUSAT road should take the Pipeline Road to reach Kesari Junction. From there, they can take a right onto Vidya Nagar Road to reach the Vidya Nagar Junction.
5) Those heading to the counting centre of the Kochi constituency should park their vehicles at the Photonic Parking point. Others can park at the St Joseph School ground. Those coming from the Toshiba side should park at the AISAT parking ground.

Restrictions in Kottayam
There will be traffic restrictions in Kottayam town and nearby areas from 6 am onwards. From 6 am until the completion of vote counting, entry of vehicles (except those of counting officials) will not be allowed on the stretch from Collectorate Junction to Manorama Junction. Vehicles of party workers arriving at counting centres must drop passengers near the Collectorate area and then park at Nagampadam Stadium or Pope Grounds.

Here are the details:
1) Vehicles coming to Kottayam town via KK Road from Kanjikuzhi Junction must divert at Collectorate Junction, proceed to Logos Junction, and then continue via Shastri Road.
2)Private buses must turn right at TMS Junction and enter the Nagambadam bus stand via Kurian Uthupp Road.
3) All vehicles travelling from Kottayam town towards Kanjikuzhi must go via Shastri Road to Logos Junction, pass near the Police Parade Ground, reach Police Club Junction, turn right, and proceed via the East Police Station route.

4)Vehicles heading towards Kanjikuzhi from District Hospital and Mammen Mappilai Hall areas (except ambulances) must go via Central Junction and RR Junction, reach Seematti Round, and continue through Shastri Road.
5) Vehicles coming from the Manipuzha side towards Kanjikuzhi must either go via Kaduvakulam and Kollad from Manipuzha Bypass Junction, or take the Manipuzha Bypass to reach Eerayilkadavu Junction and turn right.
