The Indian Railways has increased the number of coaches of the Palakkad-Ernakulam MEMU from 8 to 12. Palakkad-Ernakulam Junction (66609) and Ernakulam Junction-Palakkad (66610) MEMU trains have been operating with 12 coaches since last Sunday. An AC three-tier coach has been newly added to the Madgaon-Ernakulam Junction-Madgaon weekly express train. The train that had 20 coaches will now run with 21 coaches. Ernakulam Junction-Madgaon weekly train (10216) has been running with the additional coach since this Monday.

Special train
A special train will run from Ernakulam to Egmore, Chennai. Reservations for this train have opened from 8 am onwards today. The train (06056) starts from Ernakulam Junction at 11.10 pm on May 31 and reaches Egmore station at 12 pm the next day. The special train reaches major stations such as Aluva at 22.48, Thrissur at 00.37, Palakkad Junction at 01.55, and Salem Junction at 06.07.

The return service (06055) starts from Egmore at 2.30 pm on June 1 and reaches Ernakulam Junction at 4.30 next morning. The train reaches Salem at 19.17, Erode Junction at 20.15, Palakkad Junction at 00.05, Thrissur at 01.17 and Aluva at 02.10.
