KSRTC to operate Onam, Chingam special services to Sabarimala from Aug 16

The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has finalised extensive travel arrangements to ensure a smooth and safe journey for pilgrims visiting the Sabarimala Lord Ayyappa temple for the upcoming Chingam and Onam puja ceremonies. Special services will operate to and from Pamba between August 16 and 28, helping commuters from across the state reach the shrine without hassle.

Devotees can access these dedicated services from major transport hubs including Thiruvananthapuram, Chengannur, Pathanamthitta, Kottarakkara, Erumely, and Punalur. KSRTC will closely monitor commuter volume and deploy additional fleets to match real-time demand.

Special arrangements for train passengers
To accommodate pilgrims arriving by train at Chengannur Railway Station, KSRTC has established a round-the-clock dispatch system. Buses will run from Chengannur to Pamba and back at any time of the day or night based on passenger arrivals. Additionally, the high-frequency Nilakkal-Pamba chain shuttle services are being significantly strengthened to prevent delays at the base camps.

Advance booking and crowd management
For a more planned journey, pilgrims can opt for advance reservation facilities, which are available at the Thiruvananthapuram Central depot. Depending on the peak days of the puja festival, KSRTC has kept standby buses ready at nearby depots to be deployed immediately if rush conditions arise.
