Sreekrishna Jayanti today: Traffic restrictions in Thrissur, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram; details

Sreekrishna Jayanti, which celebrates the birth of Lord Krishna, is celebrated across Kerala today. To make way for the Ashtamirohini shobhayatra procession, in which little kids dress up as a young Krishna and gopis, traffic restrictions will also be in place. Here are the details of the curbs in various regions of Kerala. 

Restrictions in Thrissur
Traffic restrictions will be in place in Thrissur city and surrounding areas from 4 pm today. Parking will not be allowed on Swaraj Round and nearby roads, according to Thrissur City Police. The public has also been requested to avoid travelling to Thrissur city in private vehicles unless absolutely necessary on the day of the celebrations. 

Traffic diversions and route changes
Buses coming from Mannuthy and heading to Shakthan Stand should turn left at Pulikkann Market Centre and proceed via Nellikunnu, Mar Aprem, Fathima Nagar, ITC Junction and Ikanda Warrier Road before entering Shakthan Thampuran Stand. On the return journey, they should operate via Mission Quarters, Kattookkaran Junction, Shavakkotta and Fathima Nagar Junction.

Buses coming from Mannuthy and heading to Vadakke Stand should turn right at East Fort and proceed via Pension Moola and Ashwini Junction to enter Vadakke Stand. On the return journey, they will operate via Stadium Junction.

Buses operating from Mandamangalam, Puthur, Valakkavu and nearby areas should turn left at ITC Junction, proceed via Ikanda Warrier Road and enter Shakthan Thampuran Stand. On the return journey, they should operate via Mission Quarters and Fathima Nagar Junction.

Buses from Mukkattukara and Nellankara heading to Vadakke Stand should reach Bishop Palace, turn right and proceed via Pension Moola, Chembukkavu Junction, Ramanilayam and Ashwini Junction to enter Vadakke Stand. They will return via Indoor Stadium Junction.

Buses operating from Chelakkara, Wadakkanchery, Ottapalam, Pazhayannur, and Thiruvilwamala should reach Peringavu, take Kolothumpadam Road, and proceed through Ashwini Junction to enter Vadakke Stand. They will return through the usual route.

Buses operating from Medical College, Athani and Kottekkad areas should also reach Peringavu, take Kolothumpadam Road, proceed through Ashwini Junction and enter Vadakke Stand. They will return through the usual route.

Buses from Cheroor, Pallimoola, Mattampuram, and Kundukad will proceed via Balabhavan, turn right at Chembukkavu Junction, and travel through Ramanilayam, Indoor Stadium Junction, and Ashwini Junction to enter Vadakke Stand. On the return journey, they will operate via Indoor Stadium Junction.

All buses coming via Punkunnam from Kunnamkulam, Kozhikode, Guruvayur, Adat and other areas will terminate their route at Punkunnam. They will return via West Fort, Ayyanthole Civil Line, Ayyanthole Ground and Lulu Junction.

All buses coming via West Fort from Wadakkanpally, Anthikad, Kanjany, and nearby areas will turn from West Fort towards Calvary Road and terminate their route from Thoppin Moola to the vicinity of Netaji Ground. They should return via West Fort and continue towards the West Fort side.

Buses coming via Kurkanchery from Kodungallur, Irinjalakuda, Triprayar, Cherpu and nearby areas will reach Balya Junction, turn right and enter Shakthan Thampuran Stand. They will return from there through their normal route.

Small vehicles coming via Kurkanchery from Kodungallur, Irinjalakuda, Triprayar and Cherpu and heading towards West Fort should turn left at Kurkanchery and proceed via Vadookara and Aranattukara.

Buses coming from Ollur, Amballur, Varandarappilly and nearby areas will reach Mundupalam Junction, turn left and terminate their service at Shakthan Stand. On the return journey, they should operate via Kattookkaran Junction.

Vehicles other than buses and trailers travelling from Ashwini towards Mannuthy, Palakkad and Ernakulam will proceed downhill via Pension Moola, then travel through Nellankara and Mukkattukara.

All vehicles other than buses and trailers travelling from Kunnamkulam towards Palakkad will turn at Mundoor and proceed via Kottekkad, Viyyur Bridge and Power House, followed by Ponganamkad, Chirakkode and Mundikkode.

All vehicles other than buses and trailers travelling from Kunnamkulam towards Ernakulam should turn at Mundoor and proceed via Kottekkad, Viyyur Bridge and Power House, followed by Ponganamkad and Mukkattukara.

All light vehicles travelling from Chiyyaram towards West Fort should turn left from Kurkanchery Centre and proceed via Vadookara and Thoppinmoola.

KSRTC services
All buses operating from the KSRTC Stand towards Chalakudy and Ernakulam should operate via Kannamkulangara and Chiyyaram. All KSRTC buses coming from the western region should turn right at Punkunnam Junction, proceed through Shankarayyar Road and Poothole, and enter the KSRTC Stand.

Ordinary KSRTC buses operating towards Angamaly, Chalakudy, Puthukkad and Irinjalakuda should temporarily terminate their services at the temporary bus stand at Shakthan Thampuran Stand and begin their return services from the same location.

KSRTC buses operating towards Shoranur, Vazhikkadavu and Medical College should not enter Swaraj Round. They should operate via ITC Junction, East Fort, Ashwini Junction and Kolothumpadam.

Restrictions in Thiruvananthapuram city
The restrictions will start at 2 pm and last till 7 pm on the Palayam - East Fort Road. The procession will take the Palayam, Spensor, Statue, Ayurveda College, Overbridge, Pazhavangadi, Kizhakekotta route. 
a) Parking of vehicles will not be allowed in this stretch. 
b) Till the procession reaches Pazhavangadi, traffic will be permitted on the Palayam-East Fort Road. Once it reaches East Fort, vehicles will be diverted.
c) Vehicles bringing procession participants should alight them and park in the Attukal Temple Grounds, Injakkal-Tiruvallam Bypass Service Roads. 

Restrictions in Aluva
The traffic restrictions will be in place in Aluva from 3.30 pm today.
a) During the procession, vehicles won't be allowed in the Pump Junction - Bank Junction stretch.
b) From the Govt Hospital side, vehicles won't be allowed to head to the Railway Station and Pump Junctions.
c) The vehicles coming from the Perumbavoor Private Bus route should head via the Powerhouse Junction - Government Hospital Road route.

d)  The vehicles coming from Pulinchodu and heading to Karothukuzhi should take the flyover from Pulinchodu Junction. Head to the Bypass Junction to continue the travel.
e) Vehicles from Karothukuzhi and Market sides won't be allowed to the Govt Hospital side.
f) Vehicles won't be allowed from Bank Junction to Private Stand and Market sides.
g) Vehicles carrying procession participants should let them alight and park the vehicles in Manappuram.
