In a major relief for non-resident Keralites and holidaymakers, Indian Railways has announced weekly special train services between Mumbai and Thiruvananthapuram North (Kochuveli) to clear the extra rush during the upcoming Puja and Diwali festival season. Operating via the scenic Konkan railway route, these special trains will run from October 15 to November 21, providing a seamless travel option for those planning festive trips to Goa, Konkan, and Kerala.
LTT–Thiruvananthapuram North Special (01463)
Train number 01463 will depart from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) in Kurla at 4 pm on Thursdays, from October 15 to November 19. The train will travel via Kottayam and is scheduled to reach Thiruvananthapuram North at 11.30 pm the following day.
Thiruvananthapuram North–LTT Special (01464)
In the return direction, train number 01464 will depart from Thiruvananthapuram North at 2.15 pm on Saturdays, from October 17 to November 21. It will arrive at LTT in Mumbai at 11.55 pm the next day.
Coach composition
The special train will operate with 22 coaches to accommodate the holiday rush. The composition includes four AC 3-tier coaches, 11 sleeper class coaches, and five general second-class coaches, alongside luggage and brake vans. This temporary service is expected to significantly ease travel constraints for the Malayali community in Mumbai looking to return home for the holidays, as well as tourists heading towards popular destinations along the west coast.
