New KSRTC Priyadarshini bus services will commence operations on two major routes in Kozhikode's Thiruvambady from today (October 14, Wednesday), providing relief to daily commuters across the region. The services will bridge key transit gaps, connecting remote hill areas with major commercial and educational hubs in Kozhikode.
The routes
The new routes will link Thiruvambady to Kozhikode Railway Station via Kodiyathur, Cheruvadi, and Mavoor, as well as to Kozhikode city via Manassery MAMO College. KSRTC operations along the Cheruvadi, Kodiyathur, and Mukkam corridors had been completely halted recently, leaving college students, office workers, and small traders facing severe travel difficulties. The reintroduction of these services aims to resolve these transport bottlenecks and ensure better connectivity for residents in the hill region.
Detailed bus schedule and route timings
The early morning service leaves Thiruvambady at 4.20 am, passing through Koodaranhi (4.30 am), Karamoola, Mukkam (4.40 am), Cheruvadi (4.50 am), Mavoor (5 am), and Kozhikode Medical College (5.20 am), before reaching Kozhikode Railway Station at 6 am. The return trip leaves the railway station at 6.05 am, travelling via Palayam (6.15 am), Mavoor (7.00 am), Cheruvadi (7.10 am), Mukkam (7.20 am), and Koodaranhi, terminating at Thiruvambady at 7.45 am.
A second morning trip begins from Thiruvambady at 8.40 am, moving through Koodaranhi (8.50 am), Mukkam (9 am), Manassery MAMO College (9.20 am), Pulparamba, Pazhoor, Koolimadu, Mavoor, and Medical College, reaching Kozhikode at 10.15 am. The bus leaves Kozhikode at 10.45 am via Palayam, Mavoor, and Koolimadu, reaching Cheruvadi at 11.55 am, and continuing through Kodiyathur and Karassery to arrive at Mukkam by 12.20 pm.
In the afternoon, the service restarts from Mukkam at 12.45 pm, travelling through Karassery, Kodiyathur, Cheruvadi (12.55 pm), Mavoor, and Medical College, reaching Kozhikode at 2.20 pm. The evening return service departs Kozhikode at 5.10 pm, passing Palayam, Mavoor, Cheruvadi (6.20 pm), Kodiyathur, Karassery, Mukkam (6.30 pm), Karamoola, and Koodaranhi, before ending its run at Thiruvambady at 6.50 pm.
