Visitors take a trip down memory lane in vintage vehicles

Kochi: Sparking curiosity among youngsters and evoking nostalgia in the older generation, the exhibition of vintage cars and two-wheelers has turned a big attraction at the Malayala Manorama Auto World Expo.

At the line-up arranged by Kochi Vintage Club are cars like Triumph which rolled out of the factory before World War II as well as Fantabulous, the only scooter ever to have been manufactured by Enfield.

The oldest vehicle displayed at the Expo is an Austin car of 1932 vintage. Other big draws are Mercedes Benz W 115 Series, BSA’s Winged Wheel and Rajdoot Bobby.

All the vehicles are owned by members of the Vintage Club. Though ‘veterans’ on paper, all the vehicles flaunt a ‘young’ body and are in top condition, thanks to regular maintenance. A 1955 model of Fiat Millecento displayed at the Expo was driven down all the way from Bengaluru exclusively for the event.

Among the vehicles which are most popular are, 1964 Willis CJ 3B petrol, 1951 model Morris Minor, 1980 model API Lambretta, Benz of 1959 make, Fiat Topolino from 1952, Hindustan 14 of 1953, 1981 model SD Colt and a 1951 model Lambretta.
