Medical aspirants get another shot at option registration

The student doctor cadet project was flagged off in 2016 to develop a scientific temperament among the school students about health and medical science.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) has announced one more chance for medical aspirants in Kerala to register their options following its notification of higher fee structure as demanded by the managements of self-financing medical colleges in the state. As a result, candidates would be permitted to make fresh option registration from Wednesday 1 pm to Thursday noon (12 pm).

The medical allotment, scheduled for Monday, has been postponed in the changed scenario. The first allotment list will now be published on November 20 based on options received till Thursday noon, a CEE press release said.

Candidates can also rearrange and delete unwanted options during the new registration window.

As reported earlier the fees for merit seat has been set at Rs 11-22 lakh and NRI seat at Rs 20-30 lakh. This is almost three times the amount recommended by the Justice R Rajendra Babu Committee.

Nineteen self-financing medical colleges in Kerala will admit students this year. Of this, the fee structure for 10 colleges was published on Monday.

The notification was issued after the High Court ordered that students should be informed about the detailed fee structure.
