Many misuse #MeToo for publicity: Priyamani

Actress Priyamani said the ongoing #MeToo movement is very much genuine. The 'Chennai Express' actress was talking to Manorama News while attending an event in Dubai.

“The campaigns like #MeToo is a very relevant one in current society. I wish more and more women should realise this and should come forward. There is a tendency of isolating people who open about such experiences and a healthy working atmosphere should be developed,” said Priyamani.

Further she also pointed that fake cases are also popping up. “It's a big and genuine platform however I think many are also misusing it for gaining publicity," she added.

#MeToo is a movement against sexual harassment. The campaign was aimed to demonstrate the widespread prevalence of sexual assault and harassment, especially at the workplace.

Priyamani also stated that she was not part of any association. “I am neither a member of AMMA (Association of Malayalam movie artists) or WCC (Women in Cinema Collective) but would always stand for that which serves good purpose," she said.
