Fahadh admitted that he once tried being on social media but quickly realised it wasn’t for him.

In an age where most celebrities carefully curate their lives on Instagram and Twitter, Fahadh Faasil remains a striking exception. The actor, known for his unconventional choices on screen, has no presence on social media and doesn’t even use a smartphone.
In a recent conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Fahadh explained that this decision is not driven by disdain for technology. He considers smartphones important, but over time, he has built his life in a way that allows people to reach him without relying on them. According to him, there are always other ways to connect if someone needs to.

Fahadh admitted that he once tried being on social media but quickly realised it wasn’t for him. He never knew what to post or how to respond to the flood of comments. For him, those accounts were simply a place to share updates about his films or to let audiences know what he was working on. Beyond that, it felt unnatural.

Despite stepping away, he insists he has never felt cut off from the world. People around him are active online, so he remains in the loop through them. What truly matters to him is not constant visibility but the quality of his work. Fahadh believes that as long as he continues to make good films, the connection with his audience will remain intact. “If I start making bad movies, that’s when I should really worry,” he noted in the interview.

His comments came in the lead up to the release of his latest film, ‘Maareesan’, which also stars veteran comedian Vadivelu. The movie puts a darkly comic spin on the road trip genre, with Fahadh playing Dayal, a seasoned thief plotting to swindle his fellow traveller, Velayudhan Thampi, an elderly man living with Alzheimer’s.
