Tamil filmmaker A R Murugadoss has tonsured his head as an offering to Lord Muruga at the iconic pilgrim centre in Palani following the successful box office run of his latest movie ‘Madharaasi.’ Murugadoss said that he had prayed to Lord Muruga of Palani to make this movie a grand success.
He also recalled visiting the temple after the release of his directorial debut ‘Dheena.’ Murugadoss opened up about his movie and the long break in his career in a recent interview.
“I have visited Lord Muruga’s temple in Palani after the release of ‘Madharaasi’, just like I visited the temple after the release of my debut film ‘Dheena’.
I frequently visit the famous temple. ‘Madharaasi’ felt like my debut work, which is why I decided to go to Palani after the release. This movie is very important to me. I had prayed to God for its success,” Murugadoss said.
He also got candid about the break in his career after the release of Rajinikanth starrer ‘Durbar’ in 2020. Murugadoss revealed that the Covid pandemic had affected him and his creativity. “It took me five years to make a comeback. Two of my other projects had failed to take off,” stated Murugadoss.
‘Durbar’ directed by Murugadoss was a disaster at the box office though it was headlined by Rajinikanth. HE made his debut in Bollywood with the Salman Khan-starrer ‘Sikandar’, which also crashed at the box office.
‘Madharaasi’ directed by A R Murugadoss is headlined by Shivakarthikeyan. The movie released on September 5 has opened to mixed responses. Malayali actor Biju Menon essays a pivotal role in the movie alongside Bollywood actor Vidyut Jamwal, Sanjay Dutt, and Rukmini Vasant.
