The makers of the highly anticipated film Dies Irae, starring Pranav Mohanlal, announced that the movie’s trailer will drop at 11 am on Wednesday. The film is written and directed by Rahul Sadasivan and produced by Chakravarthy Ramachandra and S Sashikanth under the banners of Night Shift Studios and YNOT Studios.
The technical team behind Dies Irae includes Shehnad Jalal as the cinematographer and Christo Xavier as the music composer. Editing is handled by Shafique Mohammed Ali, while Jayadevan Chakkadath has designed the sound, with the mix done by M R Rajakrishnan.
This marks Pranav’s first venture into the horror genre. He was last seen in Vineeth Sreenivasan’s Varshangalkku Sesham, where he starred alongside Dhyan Sreenivasan. Director Rahul Sadasivan continues to build a strong reputation in the horror space, with his previous film Bramayugam, featuring Mammootty, earning widespread critical acclaim.
A horror thriller at its core, Dies Irae draws its name from a Latin hymn traditionally sung for the dead. Translating to “Day of Wrath,” the hymn describes Judgment Day — a moment when souls are summoned before God’s throne, the saved are delivered, and the damned are cast into eternal fire.
Believed to have been written in the 13th century, the origin of Dies Irae remains debated, but its 18 haunting verses continue to evoke awe and dread in equal measure. Dies Irae is scheduled to release in theatres worldwide on October 31, 2025.
