Several celebrities exercised their franchise in the first phase of the local body elections on Tuesday. Actors Asif Ali and Vijayaraghavan cast their votes in the early hours. Actors Dileep and Kavya Madhavan arrived at the Aluva municipality in the afternoon to vote—marking their first public appearance together after the verdict in the actress assault case was announced on Monday. They were accompanied by family members, including Dileep’s brother. The duo did not respond to media queries during their arrival.

Veteran actor Mammootty, known for being a consistent voter, missed casting his vote this time as his name was not registered in the voters’ list following a change of address. He had also missed voting in the previous local body elections in 2021, though he was able to exercise his franchise in the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.

Asif Ali was among the young actors who voted early. The actor who arrived in Booth No 1 at BTM School in Thodupuzha said that his friends were candidates in the election, adding that this has made him realise how much everyone has matured. Senior actor Lal arrived at the Padamugal booth in Thrikkakara where he cast his vote. He also shared his views on the recent verdict in the actress assault case.

Tini Tom cast his vote at the Choornikkara panchayat, at Companypady, in SPW LP School, Ernakulam. Ranji Panicker also arrived in the morning to cast his vote at St. Joseph’s School, Kadavanthra. He briefly reacted to the media regarding the verdict in the actress assault case. Meanwhile, Lalu Alex, who resides in Piravom, cast his vote at the Water Authority IB booth. Vijayaraghavan and his family visited Olassa CMS High School to cast their votes.

Sandra Thomas also exercised her franchise at Karugappally in Kochi. Actor Guinness Pakru cast his vote at the Chottanikkara panchayat, at Kannayannur JB School.
