‘Drishyam 4’ on the way, confirms producer Antony Perumbavoor

 The ‘Drishyam’ franchise is set to continue with a fourth instalment. Producer Antony Perumbavoor has confirmed that another chapter in the Mohanlal-Jeethu Joseph film series is in the works. The announcement was made at the Mazhavil Entertainment Awards, where Antony, who produces the franchise, said that a fourth instalment is definitely on the cards. He also described the announcement as his assurance that the ‘Drishyam’ story will continue.

The confirmation comes just months after the release of ‘Drishyam 3’. The third film, which hit theatres on May 21, received mixed responses from audiences but performed strongly at the box office. It crossed the Rs 100 crore mark within days of its release.

Jeethu Joseph had previously addressed the possibility of a fourth film in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. The director revealed that Antony and his team have repeatedly urged him to keep thinking about the next chapter of the story.

“After the first part, Antony spoke about the second, and during the filming of the second, he spoke about the third. Now he is saying that I should think about the fourth,” Jeethu had said.

However, the director had also stressed that he did not want to rush into another sequel simply because ‘Drishyam 3’ performed well commercially. According to Jeethu, the story and its characters need enough time to develop before another instalment can take shape.

Even after completing ‘Drishyam 3’, Jeethu said he continued to think about Georgekutty and the possible directions the story could take, including some twists that remain unexplored.
