Actress Shanthi Krishna, a familiar face for Malayalam and Tamil audience, recently separated from her husband Bajore Sadasivan, putting an end to their 18-year-old relationship. The couple had filed for divorce on mutual consent at a family court in Bengaluru.

Since then, rumors are abuzz on social media that she ended her marriage so that she can return to acting.

Now, the veteran actress, in an exclusive interview to Vanitha, talks about the real reason behind her two failed marriages. The actress kept away from the limelight after a television interview post her first divorce. It's after 22 years that Shanthi Krishna has given an open book interview.

''For the sake of marriage, I left my career twice. Having done that for family, why would I leave my daughter and husband at this age? Such news which are being circulated on social media are not true. I don't understand who is making it up'', says a furious Shanthi Krishna.

The actress revealed that divorce was not what she wanted and there were a few situations that made her choose for the same.

''My first marriage didn't work out. I know the real pain of separation. And when you give yourself a second chance, you try to improve and change and will never expect it (separation) to happen again. I tried my best and did everything to adjust. But it has happened again. In life, things happen which we least expect it to. All you got to do is live'', said Shanthi Krishna.

Shanthi Krishna was married to Kollam-based Sadasivan, an entrepreneur, who is also the director and secretary of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology in Bengaluru since 1998. The couple has two children.

She was previously married to actor Sreenath in 1984. However, the couple called it quits after 11 years in 1995. In 2010, Sreenath was found dead at a hotel where he is said to have committed suicide for unknown reasons.
